Kohl’s Resort Testimonials
“Great cabins, happy memories”
We've stayed in many of Kohl's various cabin options, and every one has been neat, clean, and spacious for the number of guests allowed. Love how my older kids talk about how we "always" went to Kohl's when they were little. While we didn't go every year, the years we did go made it seem like that in their memories. Now our two younger ones look forward to spending time "up North" too! Not sure if there is still ice cream available in the office/gift shop, but that's certainly a memory that we all share, no matter the age!
“Wonderful vacation destination”
Kohl's is a wonderful family owned and operated resort. It is located just minutes north of beautiful downtown Bemidji. The owners are warm and welcoming people. They provide a plethora of activities, including prizes for the family and children to enjoy. The staff on the property provided us with great customer service. We rented a pontoon boat and it was ready and gassed up by the employee. He gave us operational tips and hints about where the best fishing on beautiful Turtle Lake would be. The daily activities included many fun activities. Morning walks, minnow races, treasure hunts, and an enormous potluck dinner, with the owner cooking beautiful steaks for each guest at a small fee. The kids at this meal ate burgers and hotdogs for free. The resort also features a wonderful private beach area to sit and enjoy the lake, get a tan, play in the sand, or go swimming with a large variety of watercraft to use for free or rent. The rooms were clean and stocked for any cooking contingency. We brought a personal flat, plug in griller for use in the Bear's den. The indoor pool, sauna, and hot tub were all wonderful amenities that we took full advantage of. My suggestion is to take advantage of the activities provided by the owners. It allows you to share your vacation stories with new faces from all over the US. Make your reservations now. If you have any questions you can call or facebook the staff. They did a marvelous job and our vacation at Kohl's Resort was special and can be enjoyed year round. This review was unsolicited and was the review of an actual guest not affiliated with anyone at Kohl's Resort.
“A wonderful place for our family reunion.”
We stayed here and had a wonderful time. The owners are helpful and welcoming. There are many things available for guests to do--swimming, fishing, canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, ping pong, pool. Our cabin was wonderful. It was fully stocked with everything we needed.
“Lovely little property - everything you could want!”
We had a wonderful week at Kohl's in mid-July. As others have mentioned, they have everything! It really kept the kids occupied for the whole week. They have a good schedule full of activities for everyone if you want to join. (There is no pressure, we often did not join in.) My five-year old loved the little hand-paddled kid boats that he could take out on his own. He also enjoyed the inner tubes for playing in the shallow end. The 8 & 7 year olds loved the sand castle contest (sand toys are always available), pool, and treats/ice cream in the office. The adults loved the Rock-It out in the water. The men took out the jetskis and had a great time. I loved the beach chairs that still had shade in the morning and paddle boards. Kohls had a few fishing poles - not in the best shape, but just fine for the little bit of fishing we did for the kids so they could catch something. The cabin (#2) was very nice and exactly what you'd expect: clean, not too comfortable, and just the minimum of what you need in the kitchen. It was just up a small hill from the swimming area, so easy to go back-and-forth for whatever you forget and to keep an eye on the kids. Bemidji is only about 20 min away, so easy to stock up on food. You will want to bring everything (beach and bath towels, hand towels, dish towels, hand soap, hair/body soap, salt and pepper, paper towels, tissue, coffee and coffee filters, etc.) It was also easy to get the Lake Itasca. Each cabin has a charcoal grill and fire pit (wood provided). The cabin had s'more sticks, too! There is a small, old-style playground for the kids, which they also enjoyed. The mosquitoes were really not bad the whole week we were there; we only used Off one night.
“Wonderful weekend getaway”
Spent the weekend at Kohls resort with my girlfriend. The cabin came stocked with great amenities as well as a gift from the owners. The staff was amazing when it came to helping me find a good restaurant for my girlfriend and I. Can't wait to visit again!
“A wonderful week with family and friends”
My experience at Kohl’s Resort in Bemidji, Minnesota was the absolute best. The resort contains two lakes, Big Turtle Lake and Little Turtle Lake, where the water is perfectly warm in July and the fish are delicious and always waiting to be caught. Rules laid out for boat speed and hours on the lake are not too strict, yet make anyone who wants to swim from the beach to the main island centered on the main lake (Big Turtle) feel safe. On the beach, docks are evenly spread out and the resort promises each cabin a free boat for the week. Also, life jackets and a freshly clean room to filet fish is open 24/7. The resort offers activities and games for children to do every day and the attitudes of all who supervise them are consistently joyful to be there. These activities offer a chance to socialize with the other guests and safely enjoy the water, where slides and bouncing trampolines are anchored and open for fun. In the middle of the week, another opportunity for socializing occurs with a potluck dinner where all the resort guests are invited to bring a dish and enjoy the outdoors together. Overall, the owners are always available and around to chat or fix any issues with guests stay. They keep the pool and spa area picked up, as well as offer a mini library inside the pool for any guest who forgot their summer read at the beach. The resort is built on trust and honor of the guests, giving us more freedom and relaxation to do as we please (as long as we are somewhat decent people). Long term friendships are created and family bonds grow stronger with the help of this wonderful resort.
We just spent a week at their Island View lodge. It is so spacious! Fully stocked kitchen. Good location on the lake. We rented a pontoon and caught northern and walleye. Kids swam at the resort a few times-both at the beach and indoors. The staff was friendly and attentive. Nice location in relation to Bemidji too. We would go back!
We have been coming to Kohl's Resort since 2001, and we always have a great time! The fishing is good and we love the amenities, especially the indoor pool and shuffle board. The views of the lake are breath taking, and we highly recommend this resort.
“GREAT FAMILY RESORT”
Been vacationing at Kohl's for the past 11 years with our children and grandchildren. Great owners, well kept grounds, clean comfortable and well equipped cabins. Grandchildren call it a little bit of heaven!
